NFL CAREER – In his second year with the Saints, Lofton was selected by his teammates as a defensive team captain and anchored the New Orleans defense with a team-leading 139 tackles (83 solo), two sacks, five passes defensed and a forced fumble. Originally a second round (37th overall) selection by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2008 NFL Draft, the versatile linebacker has started 95 of the 96 games he has appeared in and has totaled 873 tackles (564 solo), seven sacks, three interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 30 passes defensed. Lofton totaled double-digit tackle numbers seven times for the second time in his two seasons with the Black and Gold. Extremely durable, Lofton has opened 83 consecutive contests at one of the most physically demanding positions in the NFL, the fourth longest current streak at the position.
