COLLEGE – Four-year letterman at SMU, handling both punting and placekicking duties for the Mustangs…Averaged 43.4 yards on 166 career punts, including 59 downed inside the 20-yard line…Finished ranked fifth in Mustangs history with 217 points – including school-record streak of 78-straight PATs…Earned honorable mention All-Conference USA honors as a senior after averaging 41.8 yards on 59 punts (2,465 yards) with 20 downed inside the 20-yard line…As a junior, earned All-Conference USA first-team, leading the conference and ranking eighth in the nation with a 44.6 yard gross average that ranked third all-time in school record books on 57 punts, including 21 inside the 20-yard line…All-Conference USA third-team choice, Academic All-C-USA pick and recipient of SMU’s Special Teams Award as a sophomore in 2006…Redshirted as a freshman in 2005…Mechanical engineering major.
PERSONAL –Attended Pearland (Texas) HS, where he received second-team All-District honors and was named Brazoria County Special Teams MVP as a senior, serving as both the kicker and punter…Also lettered in soccer and was a member of the National Honor Society, adding Academic All-State honors…In support of the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser, Morstead had his hair, which had not been cut since 2011 training camp, shaved in 2013 to help raise $130,000 for children’s cancer research…Has participated in the club’s “Random Acts of Kindness” tour, handing out gift cards and prizes at Chevron, Verizon, McDonalds and local Schools…Visited John James Audubon Elementary School in Kenner in 2012 to lead a pep rally celebrating the school’s first place win in the NFL’s Fuel Up to Play 60 “Top That!” Rotolo’s Pizza Recipe Contest…In 2013 participated with his teammates in a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway at the Dryades YMCA and a team Christmas bike and toy giveaway with the Marines at the practice facility.
